Job Description:
The Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join their team at Southport Hospital. This stimulating and challenging role will involve working with inpatients who have communication needs and/or dysphagia, admitted to the general medical and surgical wards.
The successful candidate will work under the close supervision of a designated clinical supervisor, developing a wide range of skills in assessment and management. They will be an essential and valued member of the Acute General Medical and Surgical Team, with regular support from Specialised and Highly Specialised Speech and Language Therapists.
Main Duties:
* Undertake therapy assessments, clinically diagnose, and implement treatment plans as appropriate.
* Liaise with members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team and external agencies to ensure effective patient care.
* Manage a clinical caseload, ensuring patients are seen in a timely manner.
* Provide and receive complex information, communicating empathy and reassurance when needed.
Person Specification:
* Degree in Speech & Language Therapy or equivalent.
* HCPC Registered.
* Previous experience working in a health, social, or personal care setting as a Speech & Language Therapist.
* Awareness of current NHS issues, National Policies, and relevant frameworks/quality indicators.
