We are currently looking for a: Lifeguard
About the role:
Lifeguards are responsible for supervising and overseeing guests in aquatic locations and acting immediately to ensure the safety of guests in the event of an emergency. Lifeguards provide water rescue, first aid, administering oxygen, and emergency care and treatment as required. Lifeguards need to enforce safety rules and pay close attention to swimmer activities and behaviour while maintaining exceptional guest service and professionalism.
Roles & Responsibilities:
* Ensure safety is the primary focus of service delivery.
* Supervise the General Public.
* Ensure all aquatics and attractions areas are always supervised and that all policies and procedures are being followed.
* Adhere to Ellis & Associates Standards and Guidelines.
* Ensure the park's "Keep Watch" policy is enforced.
* Know and enforce all Raging Waters Sydney policies relating to service delivery.
* Have knowledge of all attractions and their components.
* Identify problems and display authority in dealing with the General Public.
* Recognise problems and make decisions to help resolve them, effectively communicating serious issues to the Head Guard.
* Relay accurate information and advice to Guests in a pleasant and helpful manner.
* Listen to Guests and offer options available to meet their needs.
* Ensure that all guests and team members abide by the policies and procedures determined by the Management team.
* Apply rescue and resuscitation techniques when required, as well as administer first aid.
* Attend and participate in all in-service training sessions.
* Ensure that all tests, forms, and records are completed neatly, accurately, and in a timely fashion.
* Conduct safety inspections and tests in accordance with manufacturer and company standards.
* Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Operations department.
* Report any faults that arise during the day and monitor technical equipment for any machinery failure and maintenance required.
* Assist in the opening and closing procedures and the clean and tidy presentation of the park.
* Maintain park presentation standards to the highest level.
* Assist with general cleaning of the park and grounds as necessary and as directed.
* Assist with pressure washing duties outside of park operating hours as directed.
* Assist with park cleanliness including sweeping, rubbish pick-up, clearing and cleaning tables, emptying rubbish bins, maintaining picnic areas, and restrooms.
* Carry out all duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Guard, Aquatic Coordinator, Operations Manager, Director of Operations, or any member of the Management Team.
Workplace Health & Safety (WHS):
* Follow and comply with Work Health Safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
* Correctly use all safety and personal protective equipment.
* Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours.
* Report WHS incidents, injuries, and safety activities to your direct Manager and First Aid at the time it occurs.
* Promote proactive hazard/near miss reporting, reporting any hazards or near-miss incidents to your direct Manager and the People & Culture Director.
* Attend Work Group Meetings to discuss and promote safety.
Requirements:
Education:
* Ellis & Associates Special Facilities Lifeguard License (training provided by Raging Waters Sydney)
* Attractions Essentials Training (training provided by Raging Waters Sydney)
* Current Working with Children Check
Languages: Fluent English
Skills:
* Ability to lead by example.

Experience:
Desirable:
* Experience working within a water park environment.
* Experience working in the Aquatics Industry.

Internal: General Manager / Facilities / Finance / Food & Beverage / Guest Experience / Operations / People & Culture / Retail / Sales & Marketing.
External: Guests / Contractors / Suppliers / Business Partners.
Additional Comments:
* Must be 16 years or older for Junior Lifeguard position.
* Must be 18 years or older for Lifeguard position.
* Must be physically fit with a professional enthusiastic attitude and appearance.
* Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
* Must be available to work a minimum of twice per week during the peak season.
* Adhere to the Company Code of Conduct policy.
* Represent the Company well internally and externally; convey a professional and positive image of the organization and business affiliates.
* Ability to work in all weather conditions including sun and rain, hot and cold climates, indoor and outdoor work.
* Carry out all duties and responsibilities as assigned by your Direct Manager, General Manager, or any member of the Management Team.
* Adhere to the Employee Handbook content and requirements.
Swimming Requirements:
* Shallow water Lifeguards need to swim 50 metres freestyle or backstroke without resting.
* Lifeguards need to swim 200 metres freestyle or backstroke without resting.
* All lifeguards need to perform a feet first surface dive up to 1.8 metres to retrieve a 5kg brick.
* All lifeguards need to tread water without using arms for two minutes.
