The Tasmanian State Service (TSS) is the largest employer in Tasmania, with over 28,000 employees providing services to the Tasmanian community at all levels.
The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital in Tasmania. The hospital provides all general and specialty medical and surgical services as well as paediatrics, obstetrics, and psychiatry. It is also the state’s tertiary trauma centre.
The Emergency Department (ED) provides a tertiary level service for people with illness or injury 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Our busy ED provides care for over 75,000 patients annually with an admission rate of more than 35% and a paediatric case load of 20%.
The RHH Emergency Department has a co-located Emergency Medical Unit (EMU) which is a short stay ward for patients requiring a brief hospital stay (generally less than 24 hours). The EMU has 24 short-stay beds operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a high turnover ward environment and a variety of clinical presentations.
The Role:
The Emergency Department Clinical Coach works closely with the Clinical Nurse Educators and Nurse Unit Manager to support less experienced members of the healthcare team and participates in orientation, precepting, clinical teaching, overseeing learning experiences, and goal setting for nursing and midwifery novices.
You will need:
* Current knowledge of, and the ability to apply nursing/midwifery principles, procedures, and evidence-based practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a relevant clinical setting and in line with legal requirements, the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), Registered Nurse or Midwife Standards for Practice and other relevant professional standards.
* Demonstrated ability to use clinical coaching principles to support professional and clinical development of novice nurses and midwives.
* Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership to support the nursing or midwifery management team, and to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Details of appointment:
Fixed term part time, shift worker position, working 32 hours per fortnight, commencing in July 2025 for a period of approximately ten (10) months.

Salary: $99,455 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
* Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
* Minimum of 4 years clinical experience in the relevant practice setting.
* Relevant postgraduate qualifications appropriate to the clinical area.
* Membership with the relevant professional organisation (e.g.: Australian College of Nursing, Australian College of Midwives, ACORN, ACCCN).
