Additionally, this role offers the opportunity to support the broader national MLEI operation throughout Australia. MLEI, being an employee-owned company, provides various opportunities for staff to become integral parts of the company fabric, including shareholding and leadership roles.RESPONSIBILITIESWorking within the Civil Team, as a Senior Civil Engineer/Principal Engineer, you would be expected to:Lead a variety of projects including:– Civil and road infrastructure (e.g. road design and land developments)– Buildings civil– Stormwater drainageEffective communication with clients, staff and key stakeholders as necessary to effectively undertake the requirements of the roleSupervise and communicate with Engineers, and Technical Officers to ensure projects are adequately scheduled and can meet delivery timeProviding technical leadership in the civil team with the assistance of the broader management teamDeveloping, managing, and forecasting project budgets and proposals.Assisting with Engineering Design using first principals’ standards and guidelines and the ability to supervise/guide engineers and designers on design and modelling, e.g. AutoCAD, DRAINS, 12d, AutoTurn etcSuccessful project management and delivery of projectsKnowledge of Site Superintendency and Construction Management activitiesAssisting with the development of bids and proposalsAssisting the leadership group with clientele growth and business developmentAssisting in the development of standards, templates and guidelines for the officeMeeting growth KPIs and revenue targetsEnsure company quality, environmental, health and safety processes are adhered to appropriatelyTrain and mentor other Engineers and technical staffAnalyse survey reports, architectural drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan and deliver projectsEnsure that appropriate project management tools are implemented such projects run smoothly and are completed on time and within budgetCorrect any project deficiencies that affect production, quality, and safety requirements prior to final evaluation and project reviews.Ensure the requirements of AS/NZS ISO9001 and ISO 45001 are achievedQuality Assurance of Engineers’ and Drafters work prior to final delivery.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSBachelor of Engineering in Civil with 8+ years of Australian engineering experience, including Local Government, State Government and Land DevelopmentsChartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or able to prove a pathway to achieving within 12 monthsDemonstrated delivery history for civil projects in AustraliaCompetent in exercising sound engineering judgement whilst contributing to the design and development of engineering solutions, identifying constraints, opportunities and buildability issuesKnowledge of Austroads Guidelines, Australian Standards and relevant supplementsDemonstrated understanding of computer packages related to the field of Civil Engineering (eg 12d, DRAINS, AutoCAD and AutoTurn)Able to explain design plans and ideas clearly, analyse large volumes of data and be able to assess solutionsProactive management of project financials to ensure planned budgets and timeframes are metAbility to collaborate within a team environment and proven strength in communicating concepts/ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholdersHave the ability to supervise teamwork and coordinate job schedulesSound knowledge about relevant legal requirementsGood interpersonal skillsProven ability to take ownership of delivering the day-to-day requirements associated with engineering designAble handle the delivery of projects autonomously, including working with, and supervising, paraprofessionalsHave the right attributes to meet and work with clients, other consultants and other disciplines of engineering, to ensure the successful delivery of projects while enhancing MLEI’s reputation.HOW TO APPLYSend your CV through to recruitment@mlei.com.au with Senior/Principal Civil Engineer (Adelaide) in the subject line.
