Art Gallery of Ballarat
The Art Gallery of Ballarat is Australia’s oldest, largest and most engaging regional gallery. The Gallery is home to a nationally significant collection of over 11,500 artworks and hosts more than 30 exhibitions and 200 public programs and events each year. In 2023, the Gallery achieved over 40% growth in visitation and it is a key driver of cultural tourism to the Ballarat region as well as much loved local icon.
The Role:
The Art Gallery of Ballarat is in an exciting period of change and growth. We are looking for a dynamic, results-focused individual to lead audience engagement through public and learning programming to engage the Gallery’s existing and new audiences. This important role will bring the exhibition and collection programming to life for people of all walks of life and affirm the Gallery as the creative heart of Ballarat.
This challenging and rewarding role manages casual Gallery Educators and is supported by the Visitor Experience Team in the delivery of public programs.

Key Selection Criteria:
Experience in an art gallery or museum environment in an audience-focused role.
Extensive experience with audience research and evaluation and applying this to the development and management of an innovative program of public programs and events that engages with diverse audiences.
Ability to lead a team, manage rosters, motivate staff, and develop a successful team culture.
Demonstrated experience of program delivery including the ability to work independently and with a team to deliver Gallery and individual goals on time and within budget, and be familiar with event management and administration.
Excellent management, research, writing, organisational, and communication skills.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to participate in a work culture consistent with Gallery values and being part of a cohesive and productive team.
A successful record of building and developing relationships and partnerships.
With a focus on service delivery, the ability to work flexibly, cooperatively and an ability to work outside core hours as required.
Other relevant information: The successful applicant will be required to work evenings and weekends for events and extended Gallery opening hours, and during high demand holiday periods.
