Senior Medical Officer (Rural Generalist, Procedural Obstetrics) Innisfail Hospital, Rural & Remote Service - INNISFAIL, Queensland Health Provide high quality clinical care to hospital in-patients and patients at rural clinics. Assist the Director of Medical Services Innisfail Hospital in the development of safe medical practice and optimising clinical skills for medical and nursing staff. We are seeking an enthusiastic Rural Generalist to join our team in tropical North Queensland. Innisfail Hospital is a 32 bed acute care hospital staffed by Rural Generalists SMOs and trainees. We have a busy Emergency Department seeing 20k pxs per year. We have excellent critical care equipment and medical imaging capacity allowing advanced diagnostic and treatment capacity. Our inpatient unit has a 3 bed High Dependency allowing limited critical care capacity locally. Our Obstetric SMOs work with MGP midwives delivering > 200 babies per year with a LCSC rate of 25%. A collaborative environment exists with weekly multidisciplinary antenatal case conference and monthly multidisciplinary instrumental birth case review. Our Obstetric service is supported by epidural anaesthesia and 24 hour laboratory and blood bank availability. Innisfail Hospital provides weekday obstetric only shifts and has minimised our SMO OBS rostering to ED on call shifts to aid in recruitment and retention of RG OBS. Innisfail Hospital has successfully transitioned DRANZCOG graduates to SMO OBS through supported on call and emergency LSCS second on call informal arrangements. Innisfail Hospital has a cohesive group of Rural Generalists with diverse interests and skills in anaesthesia, obstetrics, endoscopy, emergency, critical care, paediatrics, echocardiography, medical education and simulation. Remuneration value range from $ 323 118 up to $ 471 273 p.a. (L13-L27) FT employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%), annual leave loading (17.5%), professional development allowance, motor vehicle allowance, professional development leave 3.6 weeks p.a., private practice arrangements, plus an Inaccessibility allowance of $13,800 per annum FT (category 6) 100% paid after twelve months completion period.
