Data Developer - Data Engineer & Data Modeller
* $117,386 per annum + superannuation
* Full time, fixed term to 18/07/2025
* Geelong location (hybrid working model – 3 days in office attendance)

About the role
The Data and Analytics division supports prevention-led and client-centric decision making throughout WorkSafe. WorkSafe identifies data & analytics as a critical enabler of their Strategic Plan as it supports:
* accurately targeting workplaces where the most serious injuries and fatalities are predicted to occur, enabling hazards to be identified and risks controlled before workers are harmed
* optimal outcomes for injured workers by identifying, as early as possible, when an injured worker’s recovery is not going to plan, enabling tailored recovery support to be provided to those most in need
The Data Developer position plays a key role in the design and implementation of the data platform that enables on-demand access to enriched business intelligence at scale, and applied data science activities, such as predictive analytics and machine learning.
Key accountabilities:
* Provide technical expertise that contributes to the design and implementation of a modern data platform through effective collaboration across the Data and Analytics division and other internal stakeholders
* Under broad direction of Senior Data Developers, ensure design efforts create the most secure and scalable environments that satisfy both operational and product needs in accordance with corporate guidelines
* Create software processes and associated documentation for continuous deployment cycles and on-demand deployments on both cloud-based and on-premises data systems under the guidance of the Senior Data Developer
* Provide resolution of emergent service problems and assist in building automated tools to identify/prevent problem reoccurrence and drive the resolution of issues identified via application and systems monitoring
* Assist with the maintenance of the data warehouse, various data stores and data components that are in production, contributing to data modelling designs, development standards and work practices.

About you
You have strong programming skills and demonstrated experience within Software Development, Data Engineering or a related field. You are a team oriented person who enjoys delivering with the ability to meet tight deadlines. You have a deep and demonstrated understanding of Agile development methods including core values, guiding principles, and key agile practices. Further, you will also possess:
* Strong skills in a programming language, and proficiency managing infrastructure as code
* Depth of understanding in database design and implementation, including database and SQL query optimization
* Experienced using a variety of tools to wrangle, capture and prepare data from a variety of sources for consumption
* Experience in administering deployed data driven solutions, including platforms, to ensure efficient operation
* Knowledge and proven working experience in conceptual, logical and physical data modelling techniques
* Experience in Web/Cloud-based technologies and system administration within cloud and co-located hosting environment
* Experience using data/BI visualisation tools like Qlik, PowerBI, SAS VA.
Qualifications:
* Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant discipline
