Scientist - Continuous shift, Queensland Health
Seeking the best suited applicant as a multiskilled scientist, who will assist in the provision of effective and efficient pathology service to the Gold Coast Health Service District (Robina) and associated facilities. This position is for a continuous shift scientist with participation in a 24/7 roster - 45.6hrs per fortnight.
Perform complex and diverse technical tasks, follow organisational procedures and policies and engage in independent decision making and judgement with minimal clinical practice supervision in the analysis of patient specimens.
Undertake diagnostic testing and related duties following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards within the multidiscipline Pathology team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
Work cooperatively and communicate effectively within the team and with clients, both internal and external to the laboratory.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
* Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in the delivery of scientific judgement within a comprehensive Haematology/Transfusion medicine and Clinical chemistry laboratory.
* Demonstrated ability to participate within a multidisciplinary team and contribute a range of diagnostic and troubleshooting skills often with minimum supervision.
* Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to a multidisciplinary laboratory service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.
* Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation / certification.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
* Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent qualification.
* Transfusion Medicine and Blood Film Morphology experience is essential.
