VACANCY STATUS: FULL TIME
JOB SUMMARY:
As part of the Professional Practice department, this position is responsible for coordinating the Extern Program which consists of the Unregulated Nursing Employees (UNE). Reporting to the Director, Professional Practice, Corporate Education and Training, the incumbent will support the Clinical Preceptors and program participants in their practice and integration in their unit in accordance with organizational and professional standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Works with clinical stakeholders to coordinate and provide ongoing support to the Extern Program, including planning schedules, education, coaching, mentoring and integration in the units.
* Creates, adapts, and delivers orientation and learning resources.
* Provides administrative and operational support in addition to coordinating of efficient daily operations of the Extern program.
* Supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of special projects within the Extern program.
* Serves as a liaison and conduit between the clinical leaders, educational organizations and Extern participants.
* Promotes and communicates safety objectives; takes remedial action to solve safety issues with a focus on hazard and risk elimination in support of prevention.
* Aids in integration of team processes and role clarity.
* Assists Externs to become familiar with the work in their new area of practice.
* Supports unit teams to collaborate with Externs to provide required patient care.
* Maintains regular unit presence to support ongoing education needs and tracking of required skills attainment.
* Provides ongoing monitoring and evaluations of Extern roles.
* Promotes Extern staff wellness and team well-being.
* Other duties as assigned.

* Computer skills in a Windows environment including Outlook, Microsoft Office and Cerner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Registered Nurse.
* Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
* Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred.
* Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario CPR (C) certification required.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in teaching, working with learners or precepting.
* Previous experience as Clinical Instructor or placement supervisor preferred.
* French language proficiency is an asset.
