About the role We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Legal Secretary to join our Newcastle team on a full-time basis, supporting three partners in their diverse commercial practice areas.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for delivering exceptional administrative and secretarial support in a supportive and professional environment.
Each day will be different, but you can expect some of your regular responsibilities to include: Providing high-level administrative support to partners and their teams across their commercial litigation and dispute resolution; planning, environment and local government; and construction and projects teams.
Preparing, formatting, and editing legal documents, correspondence, and presentations.
Supporting litigation processes, including preparing court documents and managing timeframes and deadlines.
Managing billing processes, including the preparation of invoices and following up debtors.
Organising meetings, managing diaries, and coordinating travel arrangements.
Opening new matters, including conducting conflict checks.
Maintaining and updating electronic filing systems.
Liaising with clients and stakeholders in a friendly, professional and timely manner.
Assisting with ad hoc administrative tasks as required.
This role offers variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to work with a collaborative and supportive team.
About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Demonstrated experience as a legal secretary, preferably within litigation or commercial law.
Strong knowledge of billing processes, including proficiency with legal billing systems.
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Advanced skills in creating and editing pdf documents using Adobe Acrobat Pro or similar.
A proactive and professional approach to client service.
The ability to work autonomously while being an integral part of the team.
Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
Knowledge of court filing and litigation procedures (highly desirable).
