The Opportunity We are currently looking to appoint a Design Manager to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for design quality and buildability of a project, including liaising with clients and preparing client briefs, liaising with design consultants and in-house estimators, cost planners, and programmers, as well as coordinating the preparation and documentation, including BIM, CAD, and other software systems.
This role will be based in Canberra, with relocation assistance available for the right candidate.
Your Key Responsibilities will include: Manage consultant engagement and design processManage preparation of preliminary project evaluations and feasibility studiesPreparation of scope of work and design briefManage development of preliminary design conceptsClient relationship managementManage authority approvals including Development Approvals, Building Approvals, and local government requirementsTo be successful in the role, you will have: Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management2+ years' experience within a construction company as a design manager or coordinator (or 5+ years' experience as a design consultant with coordination/leadership skills on Design & Construct projects).Commercial acumen within the building industryGood knowledge of Design & Construction ProjectsAn understanding of the construction process from start of tender to project completionDemonstrated capability to lead and manage a team of consultantsA sound understanding and working knowledge of technology relevant to the roleExperience in education and health projects
