If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic engineering team!About UsSTG Global is a market leader in design and manufacturing of Vacuum, Water, Service, Waste and Tilt Tray Trucks.With over 30 years of experience, we offer world-class specialised and innovatively designed products that enhance functionality, increase efficiency and productivity while the modulated designs are suitable for fitment to the chassis of medium to heavy vehicles.As part of our growth strategy, we are looking for a Hydraulic Engineer to take the lead in designing, developing, and optimizing advanced hydraulic systems for our heavy vehicle product range.Role OverviewThe Hydraulics Engineer will be responsible for the design, program analysis, testing, failure mode analysis, troubleshooting & root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of hydraulic systems used in our heavy vehicles.
This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience with hydraulic components, systems, and controls.
The successful candidate will collaborate with internal cross-functional teams such as Production & Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales & Marketing and external teams such as Suppliers, Vendors, and customers to ensure that our hydraulic solutions meet industry standards and exceed performance expectations.Key ResponsibilitiesHydraulic System Design & DevelopmentDesign and develop hydraulic circuits and components for heavy vehicles, ensuring compliance with local requirements and meeting efficiency, durability, and safety standards.Select appropriate hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, and fittings to meet performance specifications.Develop detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation using CAD and simulation software.Ensure hydraulic system designs comply with ISO, SAE, and industry-specific regulations.Testing, Validation & TroubleshootingConduct hydraulic system testing to evaluate performance, reliability, and efficiency.Perform root cause analysis on hydraulic failures, implement corrective actions and introduce appropriate control plans to avoid future failures.Work closely with the manufacturing and quality assurance teams to ensure designs are practical and feasible for production.Utilize hydraulic simulation tools and data analysis techniques to optimize system performance.Identify opportunities to improve fuel efficiency, energy consumption, and system durability.Research and implement new hydraulic technologies such as electro-hydraulic controls and smart hydraulic systems.Stay up to date with the latest trends in fluid power engineering, materials, and manufacturing techniques.Cross-functional CollaborationWork closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to integrate hydraulic systems with overall vehicle architecture.Provide technical support and training to production and service teams on hydraulic system operation and maintenance.Engage with suppliers and external partners to source high-quality hydraulic components and materials.Requirements & QualificationsEducational Background:Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Hydraulics Engineering (or Mechanical Engineering with proven experience in Hydraulic systems and projects), Fluid Power Engineering, or a related field.Technical Skills & Experience:3+ years of experience in designing and optimizing hydraulic systems for heavy vehicles, construction equipment, or industrial machinery.Strong knowledge of hydraulic circuit design, fluid dynamics, and power transmission.Experience with hydraulic components such as pumps, valves, actuators, and accumulators.Proficiency in Hydraulics software such as HydroSym and CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar for designing hydraulic layouts.Understanding of hydraulic control systems, electro-hydraulics, and proportional control valves.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot complex hydraulic issues.Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.A proactive approach to continuous improvement and innovation.Why Join Us?Career Growth & Development – Opportunities for professional development, training, and career progression.Supportive & Collaborative Team – Work with industry experts and passionate professionals.
