Criminal Law Advice and Representation
The Legal Officer Grade I-III will provide high-quality criminal law advice and representation to clients of Legal Aid NSW, adhering to its policies and guidelines. This role supports the mission of delivering excellent legal services and assisting clients in resolving their legal problems.
Key Accountabilities
* Provide criminal law advice to clients over the telephone or in writing.
* Represent clients in court proceedings, including criminal trials and hearings.
* Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and other professionals to ensure effective delivery of services.
* Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, policies, and procedures to ensure best practice in providing legal services.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must:
* Be admitted or eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW.
* Hold a current NSW Practising Certificate.
* Pass a Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check.
* Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency, or a valid visa to work in Australia.
* Hold a current driver's licence.
* Be willing to travel for work away from home.
