Experience required: Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in relevant roles. Blu Ginger is an iconic fine dining restaurant located in Canberra serving Indian cuisine and are looking for a full-time chef to work 38 hours per week. To be considered for the role the candidate will need to have a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and a minimum of 1-2 years’ full-time work experience as a cook preferably in Indian cuisine. The candidate in mind will be expected to perform the following duties that include but are not limited to:
* Preparing for service and cooking dishes as per the menu and recipes provided.
* Monitoring quality of dishes and portion meals appropriately as per company guidelines.
* Excellent food presentation skills.
* Ability to cater as per cultural and special dietary needs of customers.
* Communicate effectively with floor and other kitchen staff.
* Receive food and store food at ideal temperatures.
* Liaise with managers and other staff regarding food preparation issues.
* Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards, ensuring safe working practise is always adhered to.
* Instruct and train junior kitchen staff.
* Assist chef in ordering food supplies.
* Estimate food requirements as per forecasted usage.
* Ensure suggestions or enquiries by guests are dealt with in accordance with company policies.
* Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, fryers, and other cooking equipment.
* Assist chef in planning menus.
Minimise food wastage Qualifications: •Certificate III & IV in Commercial Cookery (Preferred but not mandatory) Skills and Experience:
* Have a minimum of 1-2 years’ full-time work experience as a cook.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Awareness of food safety and hygiene standards.
