Job Summary: Collects venous and capillary blood from inpatients and outpatients on site and off site. Processes specimens to be sent to reference labs. Cleans and stocks pick-up carts and trays. Orders lab tests in the computer. Receives laboratory specimens.

Demonstrates specific specimen processing skills as listed and in accordance with the laboratory assistant manual. Demonstrates specific laboratory outpatient skills as listed and in accordance with the laboratory assistant manual. Represents the department in a professional manner. Education Requirements and Other Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent.
Certification/Licensure: BLS.
Experience Requirements: Paramedical training preferred.
Working Conditions: Exposure Category I: Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them, are Category I tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures should be required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
