Financial Analyst/ Accountant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented individual to join our finance team as a Financial Analyst/Accountant.
The ideal candidate will report directly to the Financial Controller and assist with a broad range of accounting, financial analysis, and data reporting functions across both Australian and USA-based operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring timely reporting of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
* Conduct data analysis to support strategic decision-making and provide insights into financial trends, performance metrics, and KPIs.
* Assist in budgeting and forecasting, including preparing annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts.
* Monitor financial performance, identify variances in expenses, and support business unit performance analysis.
* Provide critical data and develop detailed financial models for management to aid in operational and strategic decisions.
* Assist with tax compliance tasks, including BAS & IAS preparation and lodgement, payroll tax, and superannuation.
* Coordinate annual audits, liaise with external auditors, and implement audit recommendations to improve financial controls.
* Manage and report on inventory, including assisting with inventory forecasting and maintaining budgeted COGS.
* Support continuous improvement in financial processes and internal controls, ensuring efficiency and compliance with policies.
Experience & Knowledge:
* 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within a small/medium-sized wholesale or manufacturing business.
* Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
* Proficient in data analytics, with a solid ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
* Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) and data visualization tools.
* Experience with Xero, DEAR, or similar ERP systems is a plus.
* CA/CPA qualification preferred but not essential.
