The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to recruit several Test Analysts for our Business Analysis and Testing Practice section. Both temporary and permanent positions are available at the APS 5 and APS 6 classification levels. The key duties of the position include As a Test Analyst you will play a crucial role in the software development process, focusing on quality assurance through hands-on testing to ensure the quality, reliability and completeness of business systems deployed on ABS platforms. Working in a multidisciplinary team, some of your key responsibilities will be: undertaking manual testing against functional and non-functional project requirements, including data migration, system integration and accessibility preparing, reviewing and executing test cases in accordance with agreed strategy/plans and timeframes, ensuring appropriate test coverage and recording results in Jira analysing and reviewing test results, attending defect triages, modifying tests where necessary and providing reports on progress, anomalies, risks and issues and recommendations for improvement assisting the Test Manager and project stakeholders with the preparation of test reports on a regular basis adhering to and updating established quality assurance processes APS 6 level Test Analysts are also expected to coach, mentor and supervise staff on occasion. What we are looking for (selection criteria) To be suitable as a Test Analyst (APS 5 or APS 6 level) you should be able to demonstrate the following skills, qualities and experience: at least two years' continuous hands-on experience as a Test Analyst in an ICT environment test design and execution covering scenarios of low to moderate complexity and functional testing via both the front-end and back-end of solutions experience with mainstream test management platforms and tools experience with test planning, exploratory testing, defect reporting and troubleshooting ability to create high quality testing related artefacts such as test plans and test execution reports excellent written and verbal communication skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and engage effectively with various stakeholders. In addition to the above, as a high performing APS 6 Test Analyst, you will also be expected to demonstrate your: experience in delivering testing solutions for highly complex requirements under limited supervision ability to contribute to test strategies and prepare high quality test summary reports experience in coaching, mentoring or managing staff. Desirable but not essential is: ITSQB certification tertiary qualifications in ICT, computer science, software engineering or related discipline experience with automation and/or non-functional testing experience with agile project delivery methodologies.
