As the Sustainability Engagement Officer, you will support various community engagement programs to promote sustainable behaviour changes within our community.Playing a key role in identifying environmental sustainability related issues, you will partner closely with various teams within Council as well as external stakeholders such as agencies and community groups to develop community-focused and innovative solutions that align with Council’s environmental sustainability management strategies.Each of the Sustainability Engagement roles focuses on a specific area of expertise, including:Particular focus on collaborating with our sustainable neighbourhood volunteers, which includes understanding incorporated associations, their governance requirements, and working with management committee volunteers.Leading and delivering the sustainable schools’ program to inspire future generations to engage in sustainability efforts.Travel and/or work across multiple sites.Attend Council meetings.LET’S HEAR ABOUT YOUOur ideal candidate has a passion for preserving the environment and natural areas and enjoys working closely with passionate volunteers as well as staff across council. With the role requiring frequent teamwork, project coordination and customer service activities, we are looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated individual who takes a friendly and professional approach to their work and demonstrates versatility with a positive attitude that will contribute to building strong internal and external partnerships.Your community engagement experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and exceptional customer service, organisational and facilitation skills will see you succeed in the role.You must also meet the following criteria:Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in environmental science, environmental management, environmental education, communication, social science or a relevant discipline.Experience in facilitating professional or community forums, organising community events, and communicating with a diverse audience.Project and program coordination skills and experience.High level of computer literacy.Current Class C licence.LET’S REVEAL THE PERKSCompetitive salary from $91,571 - $106,421 (pro-rata) per year, plus industry-leading 12 per cent superannuation.2x Temporary Positions - up to 12-months.Part-time 21-hours per week.Training and development opportunities.Access to Corporate fitness programs.Free parking within walking distance of our new contemporary office building.Along with many other perks that come from choosing Lake Mac!CHOOSE THE LAKE MAC WAYWe know it is our people that will shape the future of our city.
