Chef required for a well-established Australian restaurant HTM CO PTY LTD T/A MAGPIES NEST RESTAURANT located at 20 PINE GULLY ROAD, ESTELLA NSW 2650. Prospective applicants must have good prior experience of working commercially as a chef. Duties include:
1. Monitor the kitchen staff during pre-cooking preparations.
2. Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of food preparation and food presentation.
3. Prepare specialized food items from the café menu.
4. Preparing food items keeping in mind the nutritional value of the items included.
5. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients as per café’s food recipes or personal judgment.
6. Planning menus & recipes.
7. Estimating food and labor costs and ordering food supplies.
8. Plan staff rosters.
9. Discussing food preparation issues with the Manager and other kitchen staff.
10. Training junior staff from time to time.
11. Managing the organization of all stock and stock control for the venue.
12. Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
13. Upholding food safety and hygiene standards.
14. Obey Occupational Health and Safety and Food Hygiene procedures.
In return for your commitment and skills, you will receive a competitive salary package of $74,000 (Plus Super) and ongoing training with the opportunity to develop your skills. Applicants with formal qualifications (AQF Certificate IV in Asian/commercial cookery OR Diploma of Hospitality) and 2 years of practical experience working as a chef will be prioritized. The position is available full-time, 38 hours/week, but the applicant must be available for 7 days/week and willing to work odd hours (weekends, public holidays & late shifts).
