Mechanical Technician | Prominent Hill Date: 8 Oct 2024 Job Country: Australia Job State/Province: South Australia About the Role: Prominent Hill is a copper-gold mine, a long-life asset, that is part of the BHP South Australia copper province.BHP is a global company with operations in Australia, North and South America across 5 different commodities.As an experienced Mechanical Technician, you will be required to perform routine maintenance activities on Mechanical fixed plant equipment to execute the maintenance strategy across our Prominent Hill Operations.Your new role will require you to deliver a high level of commitment to personal, team, and site safety procedures and systems in line with company values.Location: Prominent Hill, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta) Roster: 8 days on; 6 days off Reporting to: Mechanical Supervisor Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time In This Role You Will: Responsible and safe operation of cranes, forklifts, rigging, scaffolding, cleaning, and minor inspections of mechanical vehicles and resources.Inspect, clean, and organise cranes, forklifts, and scaffolding equipment.Perform scheduled and ad-hoc maintenance activities (fuel, lubricant, air, coolants) as per the maintenance schedule to ensure they are maintained to high standards to allow efficient operation of the equipment and prevent unscheduled downtime.Perform breakdown maintenance activities to the mechanical equipment as required to minimize the impact on production.Assist with the production of standard maintenance procedures.Undertake electrical installation work as directed.Ensure that the provisions of the Electrical Act SA 1996 and AS/NZS 3000:2007 are adhered to.Deliver a high level of commitment to personal, team, and site safety procedures and systems. About You: At least 3-5 years' experience in mechanical trade maintenance teams in a supervisor or leading hand style role within a continuous processing or minerals processing environment.Demonstrated experience and understanding of crane inspections, lubrication, and lubricants.Proven experience cleaning and organising cranes, forklifts, and scaffolding equipment.Demonstrated working knowledge of Australian Standards in relation to electrical installations and maintenance.Well-developed time management and prioritisation skills, with high attention to detail, excellent problem-solving and communication skills.Proven safety leadership skills to work with and across all teams and areas on site.Previous experience in building and maintaining effective systems that will deliver the highest levels of safety and performance whilst achieving production targets.
