We have an opportunity for an experienced Gardening and Maintenance Officer to join our team at The Henry Canberra, a retirement village nestled in the picturesque suburb of Higgins in Belconnen. We are seeking an experienced individual who will thrive in a hands-on role. Your primary focus will be maintaining our village and gardens to the highest standard, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for our residents and visitors.
Reporting to the Management team, your duties will encompass a variety of tasks, including:
* Managing lawn and grounds maintenance (including but not limited to seeding, topdressing, fertilising, mulching, raking, sweeping, whipper snipping, trimming, weeding and spraying of pesticides/herbicides).
* Planting and maintaining trees and gardens, including pruning for shrubs and other plants as required.
* Engaging with residents and visitors in a customer focused manner, fostering positive relationships.
* Completing administrative and reporting duties associated with maintenance activities.
* Assisting the Management team with additional tasks as needed.
* Performing some general and preventative maintenance tasks around the village in an organised and proactive manner.
To excel in this role, you should possess:
* Hands-on experience primarily in gardening maintenance, showcasing attention to detail.
* Some experience in building maintenance tasks.
* Initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to work autonomously.
* Problem solving skills and a commitment to safe work practices.
* Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with a customer-centric approach.
* Adaptability to work in various weather conditions.
* A valid drivers licence and proof of Australian work rights.
* A current national police check or willingness to obtain one.
