Liability Risk Advisor

JLT Risk Solutions Pty Ltd (a business of Marsh & McLennan Companies) is the appointed Scheme Manager to the Local Government Association Mutual Liability Scheme (LGAMLS). The LGAMLS provides the broadest and most extensive civil liability protection to its Members which are Local Government Councils and prescribed bodies. As the Scheme Manager, JLT Risk Solutions manages Claims, provides risk advice and delivers risk management services for all of Local Government in South Australia.
In this position, you will become part of the liability team that includes both claims and risk management. You will be a reliable and knowledgeable source that Members can turn to for guidance on the intricate legal and regulatory landscape of Local Government. As a member of this dedicated team, you will be expected to work collaboratively and demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service to clients.
This role also presents an excellent opportunity for individuals with background and experience in policy, strategy and/or graduate consulting experience who possess a keen desire to learn and grow within the risk advisory field supporting the Local Government of SA.

We will count on you to:
* Support the Scheme Manager in complying with delivery of LGAMLS KPI’s and other key objectives as set out in the LGA SA Mutual Board Strategy
* Assist with the timely production and delivery of the quarterly LGA SA Mutual Board reports and any other Board related documentation
* Monitor the Local Government Legal and Regulatory Compliance environment working closely with Divisional Manager, Manager-Claims, LGA and LGAMLS Legal Panel
* Support together with the Scheme Manager, the LGA in the management of specific risk and/or LGAMLS funded projects associated with sector
* Contribute to the development of programs and projects, including overseeing the implementation of plans to assist in minimising and managing the risk of liability claims
* Target information and training needs of Members and provide assistance via LGAMLS Forums and workshops, LGA courses and legal seminars
* Participate in Council/Member risk profiling performance
* Assist and support the sector, Councils and Members to develop and implement risk profile and mitigation strategies.
What you need to have:
* Experience working with Local/State government across Risk, Governance and strategy would be an advantage (not essential)
* Experience (including graduate experience) working within a big 4 consulting firm would be an advantage (risk advisory, internal controls and or regulatory compliance)
* Degree in Law/ Risk & Governance or equivalent would be an advantage (not essential)
* Excellent relationship building skills with internal and external stakeholders and clients
* Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
* Ability to work autonomously as well as a part of a team
* Ability to travel to metropolitan and regional locations as required
* Valid driver license.
