Senior Mechanical Engineerwill be part of the team responsible for the development of Microsoft's industry-leading datacenter designs.This position is a Subject Matter Expert providing key input to other organizations and stakeholders.The successful candidate will be a professional mechanical engineer with extensive experience in datacenter mechanical engineering (HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Fuel Oil and BAS systems), design, construction, and operations.This individual will also review and coordinate the delivery of complex datacenter mechanical systems, associated controls, and overall topology.The SME will be responsible for:Design decisions related to datacenter projects including new construction, expansions, retrofits and upgrades and standards upgrades in the APAC region.Detailed understanding of mission-critical datacenter HVAC cooling systems, cooling equipment selection, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, fuel systems and mechanical Building Automation System (BAS) controls.Responsible for overseeing the specification and drawing development detailing all mechanical systemsCritical assessments of designs and decisions and support in applying the required standards and country-specific regulations to make the best design choices.Engage and manage external design consultants, run design workshops to ensure they deliver a design to meet the requirements of the Basis of Design (BOD).Collaboration with Global Technical Excellence team, Global Strategy team and DC Operations teams to develop datacenter designs from Basis of Design (BOD) to Issue For Construction (IFC) and through the Construction Administration phase of the datacenter until handover for new project build outs.Interface closely with the procurement team, the manufacturers, and the global and local engineering teams to deliver the mechanical solutions needed for each project.Assisting Operations teams with mechanical system solutioning and working with Operations and equipment vendors for implementation as well as assisting in commissioning activities to validate performance, quality, and reliability.Some travel to sites for "Factory Witness Testing", consultant/vendor interaction in the design process, as well as for final commissioning of the installed systems.Collaboration with internal and external customers, lead the direction of the mechanical designs and oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete datacenter design solutions aligned with scopes, schedule and budgets of the projects.Supporting requests, liaise with customers to develop specific project design requirements, liaise and collaborate with other Microsoft engineering teams and Operations providing support as and when required for new and existing
