Teaching - Secondary (Education & Training)
Employment Type: Full time
Salary: $95,593 - $123,690 based on qualifications & experience
Are you a primary or secondary trained, registered teacher? Do you know how to make learning fun while maintaining boundaries? Do you love contributing to a culture of inclusivity and fostering a sense of belonging? If this sounds like you, and you are a passionate educator keen to reengage young people with learning, we'd like to meet you. Recent growth means that we have a vacant position at our Burnie campus.
Learning at our strength-based, alternative school is a journey of discovery where students' unique abilities are celebrated, nurtured, and empowered, creating a community where everyone can thrive and grow with confidence and compassion. We are looking for teachers who can work collaboratively, bring creativity, enthusiasm, and a commitment to student-centred learning.
Through prioritising safety, respect, and engagement, we create a culture in our school which facilitates belonging and success. Individual Education Plans are a key component of our practice. Students enjoy flexible timetables (students attend Monday to Thursday), no uniforms, and the provision of meals, allowing us to concentrate on the key facets of an optimal learning environment – regulation, relationship, and routine.
The greatest difference between Indie School and many other alternative education settings is that our foundations lie in Adult Education philosophies. Choice, independence, mutual respect, and accountability all have a significant role to play. Our aim is to reengage young people with learning, improve literacy and numeracy skills, and focus on the next step in their learning journey.
If you are a teacher who celebrates inclusion, equity, and personalized learning, are compassionate, and are confident supporting young people (Grades 9 to 12) who may have encountered barriers to learning, this may be the teaching opportunity you have been waiting for!
