The Role:
The Director of Nursing (DON) - King Island is responsible for the operational leadership and management of emergency first response, inpatient and community based services provided from the King Island Hospital and Community Health Centre (KIHCHC). This includes:
6. Undertaking a leadership role in ensuring all onsite clinical and support services, and infrastructure, meet quality and safety standards and are in accordance with Agency performance objectives and community expectations.
7. Facilitating the development and maintenance of strong communication links within the Agency and other government and non-government agencies, community health service providers and other key groups and consumers regarding health service priorities.
8. Providing the Nursing Director - Primary Health North West with high level quality and authoritative advice and support.

The Area:
King Island is the type of place where you wave to every passing car. It is in the Bass Strait between Victoria and northwest coast of Tasmania, and is well-known for world class cheese, fresh seafood, very clean air, and incredible surfing and golf. Currie is King Island's largest town and administrative centre. Located on the west coast, there is a scenic harbor and fascinating history of shipwrecks and discovery that make it an interesting place for anyone. Area 1,098 square km and the population is approximately 1600 people.
King Island Hospital & Health Centre has four acute care beds, a palliative room with adjoining family room, two emergency rooms, Treatment room, outpatients consulting rooms, 14 permanent residential aged care beds providing high, low and respite care.
Details of Appointment
Permanent full time day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight as and when required, commencing from October 2023
9. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $132,215 per annum + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
10. District Allowances of up to $2385.25 per annum for a family
11. Remote and Rural Professional Development Allowance of $3,533 per annum and an additional salary allowance of 10%
12. Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type
13. Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
The successful applicant will also be provided access to suitable accommodation and relocation costs.
14. Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019

15. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
