About the role We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and mature minded Maintenance Officer to join the team at our Lady Small Haven retirement village located in Benowa Gold Coast. Reporting to the Retirement Living Manager, the successful applicant will display professionalism, bringing energy and enthusiasm into the role. You will be service-oriented, a team player, have the ability to work independently, possess people skills, and be passionate about providing exceptional customer service. You will work to ensure a reliable operation of equipment, ad-hoc cleaning, and ground maintenance, while providing a variety of maintenance services to residents. This position requires a confident, competent all-rounder with previous experience in property services or seniors living. You will have good interpersonal communication skills, problem solving, relationship building, as well as an ability to meet deadlines. To be successful you will need to possess: A stable employment history Basic computer skills An ability to work in occupied areas with an awareness of safety and respect for others A building handyman background A sense of responsibility and motivation Knowledge of methods and materials used in building, grounds, cleaning and maintenance work Current first aid certificate Please note this role is working 4 days/fortnight, 8am to 2.30pm - Monday and Thursday. Starting ASAP. (total 24 hrs per fortnight). About you You are a self-starting and driven individual who loves working collaboratively as part of a team; however, you are also capable of working on your own. You have an advanced level of interpersonal skills which allows you to liaise and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders. With your highly developed customer focus and excellent service skills, you resolve maintenance issues as they arise. You have proven knowledge and physical capacity to use and maintain equipment as required by the role. Ever ready to provide support, you have a welcoming, caring and compassionate nature. To be suited to this position ideally you will have: Demonstrated experience in a gardener/handyman/maintenance role; Previous experience in residential aged care, retirement living or community services environment is highly regarded; Applied knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety requirements; Ability to operate Windows applications at a basic level, including the following applications: Outlook, Internet Explorer, Excel; A current driver's licence (or ability to acquire the same within 1 month of employment).
