You’ll collaborate closely with both our internal team and suppliers to create industry-leading product solutions. Our designs have even earned prestigious recognition, such as the Red Dot Design Award.This role is perfect for someone who thrives on problem-solving, enjoys thinking outside the box, and is passionate about great design. You’ll work on products for our established lighting brand (M-Elec) and our emerging electric vehicle charging brand (SEVR) while also reviewing and providing feedback on existing products and supplier samples.Key responsibilities:You will analyse product specifications and performance requirements to produce designs that can be manufactured and assembled by existing and new manufacturing facilities and methods.Develop parts and/or complete products from concepts through to manufacturable parts. Experience with injection moulding essential, sheet metal and other processes advantageous.Document designs by preparing BoMs, detail drawings, and specification sheets.Seek and action feedback from internal teams (sales, marketing, management, supply chain) and external stakeholders (electricians, wholesalers, retail customers) at all stages of the design process, as well as after product release to document improvements.Manage and maintain internal 3D printing and prototyping tools. Operate safely in a workshop environment and willing to get hands-on to prototype and test products to their failure point.Participate in briefing meetings / conceptual design discussions to ensure potential technical problems are eliminated, as well as weekly team meetings.Capable to work autonomously at times, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and fill gaps across teams when required.Experience required:Essential: Tertiary qualification in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or similar.Essential: 2+ years of professional experience in a design / engineering / manufacturing environment.Essential: Advanced Solidworks skills - modelling, surfacing, drawing documentation, drafting & FEA.Desirable: Additional 3D skills will be highly regarded (e.g. Rhino, Keyshot, Blender).Desirable: Experience with Adobe products (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).Desirable: Use of project management software (Asana) or similar.Ability to quickly develop and demonstrate technical understanding of our products and methodology is essential.
