Remote Alcohol and Drug Interventions and Outcomes (RADIO) Coordinator Child Welfare, Youth & Family Services (Community Services & Development) Youth Empowered Towards Independence (YETI) is a community-based not-for-profit organisation that delivers a range of voluntary youth Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) and other support services targeting the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people living within the Cairns and FNQ region. The Remote Alcohol and Drug Interventions and Outcomes (RADIO) program delivers AOD treatment to young people across Cape York via practitioners employed in remote partner agencies. The Full Time RADIO Coordinator position leads the RADIO program through a capacity building and developmental framework to support the best practice delivery of the program by sub-contracted agencies. The position is based in Cairns and undertakes travel to remote communities (Mossman, Weipa, Cooktown, NPA and Torres) regularly to support program delivery with key tasks including: Providing capacity building support (for example training, mentoring and practice support) to AOD workers employed in Cape York and Torres services Working collaboratively with stakeholders to meet contracted service delivery performance measures and outcomes for young people Providing practice supervision and guidance to RADIO workers in relation to youth AOD practice matters Undertaking community engagement where required to develop networks and relationships Overseeing the RADIO database including end user training The successful candidate will have: Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant, equivalent experience relevant to AOD treatment Eligibility for a QLD Blue Card or exemption A current QLD driver's licence Demonstrated experience working with disadvantaged and vulnerable young people with an understanding of, and the ability to practically support practitioners to meet, the needs of young people with significant trauma backgrounds, complex AOD and other issues and high-risk behaviours Extensive knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and culture, and an understanding of the diverse circumstances and issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples Ability and willingness to travel to remote communities in Cape York and Torres Strait islands as required and to regularly stay for several nights away at a time Strong technical ability to utilise various technologies to best support remote workers including training others in the use of required technologies Previous experience overseeing data collection and related reporting using an industry Service Records System (SRS) YETI recognises the unique range of knowledge, skills and experiences that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees bring to our workplace to help create a culturally appropriate service that best meets the needs of the diverse young people who access YETI services.
