Specialising in Steel material distribution both locally and interstate.For you:$130k - $150k + super (dependent on experience)Monday to Friday role!Permanent Role!Erskine Park Location!Working from the National head office facility!Working Hours:Monday to Friday7am – 4pm (flexibility around start and finish times will be required)The Role: Operations ManagerIn this role you will report into the NSW State Manager (located onsite) and oversee 20+ staff across the day and afternoon shift operations whilst being supported by shift supervisors on both shifts.The facility runs two main lines, (Shear and split lines) with a Receiving and Despatch operation attached for deliveries into local Sydney, Central Coast, Newcastle, Port Macquarie and ACT customers.Your main operational duties will involve:Overseeing the day to day operations of the facility and management of 20+ staff across two shift patterns. (Day and afternoon)Mentor coach, retain and motivate the operations team, growing the team and uplifting their capability as our business and service offering expandsLead the team in areas of SafetyManage cost productivityBudgeting and forecastingSupplier and vendor contract negotiationLead and promote an innovative cultureLeading, motivating, and developing your team to meet customer expectations and exceed operational targets.Managing daily operations, including daily handover from day to afternoon shift operationsCollaborating with the sales, manufacturing and transport teams to consistently meet customer requirementsCultivating strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers and customers.Lead a culture of well-being, safety, and inclusivity within the team.Managing volume fluctuations and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and SOPs.Identifying opportunities for operational improvement and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and safety.Oversee transport and distribution to ensure timely delivery and efficient logistics management.Manage procurement processes to maintain optimal inventory levels and supplier relationships.Ensure customer needs are met through efficient processes, addressing issues and working closely with customer service to resolve problems effectively.Work closely with sales and customer service teams to align operations with sales objectives and customer expectations.Optimize resource management, ensuring efficient use of materials, labour, and timePlan, organise, direct and oversee production schedules and manufacturing processes of steel products.Ensure production processes are efficient, cost-effective, and meet quality standards.Oversee the allocation of materials, machinery, and personnel to optimise processes.Monitor production KPIs and report on performance.Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions promptly.Coordinate regular equipment maintenance to prevent downtime.Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.What you will bring to the table:Coming from the Steel manufacturing industry is key. This could be from steel itself, fencing material production or Building product manufacturing facilities.To be successful in obtaining this role you will have the following:5+ Years Operations Management experience in the Steel Manufacturing industryHave a Mechanical aptitude and understanding of Shear, Slit and Roll forming machineryExperience in directly managing, leading and engaging a high performing teamProven ability to continuously improve business processesBe proficient in production management software and tools and adept in lean manufacturing principles and practices.Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and resilience enable you to meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
