The Role:
The objective of this role is to execute required maintenance activities within Covalent Lithium’s health, safety, environmental, HR, and asset management policies. The Boilermaker Technician role forms part of the team reporting to the Supervisor Mechanical.
During our future steady state operations:
• The primary workplace will be Covalent Kwinana Refinery.
• The Boilermaker Technician is primarily a role with a focus on execution work associated with process plant and facility maintenance as well as minor project work.
• From time-to-time the role will also provide support in maintaining NPI assets, infrastructure and assist other mechanical trades when required.
• In addition, the role will also provide support in developing maintenance plans, tactics, safe work instructions, and commissioning activities.
As a greenfield project and additional to the above end state, the Boilermaker Technician role will be initially working on a variety of operational and maintenance readiness tasks to influence and assist in the development of systems of work required once the project’s construction phase is completed.
When construction is completed, this role will also support the Commissioning period, which is expected to be an intensive but exciting time of learning for the development minded.
This role is a maximum term (20 months), full-time, opportunity on a 4:3 roster at our Kwinana Refinery.
Key Responsibilities:
Health, Safety, Environment and Community
• Active participation in the establishment of a health and safety culture.
• Undertake all work in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with statutory requirements and Covalent policies & procedures.
• Comply with all health and safety, environmental and regulatory policies relating to the project and ensure a safe working environment.
• Ensure all health, safety and environmental incidents are reported.
Technical/Functional/Role
• Be part of an integrated commissioning team (operations, projects, & OEM).
• At all times work within Covalent Lithium health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Safely, efficiently, and effectively commission designated areas of the Fixed Plant—within Covalent Lithium sanctioned policies and procedures.
• At all times act within Covalent safety, environmental and statutory standards.
• Execute planned and breakdown maintenance to maximise reliability and quality of fixed plant assets.
• Participate in special projects whenever required.
• Identify and put forth opportunities to improve equipment reliability and work procedures.
• Maintain equipment to the highest standard to ensure the Refinery meets required production targets.
• Assist other mechanical trades as directed by the Maintenance supervisor.
Role Requirements:
• 2 years minimum fixed plant and shutdown maintenance.
• Structural fabrication and repairs.
• Carbon Steel, Stainless steel, SAFF repairs and fabrication.
• Welding and installing pipe systems according to specifications.
• High pressure equipment weld repairs.
• Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (or higher - preferred).
• A Relevant trade qualification. (Required).
• Relevant dual trade qualification – Boilermaker / Fitter or Boilermaker / Mechanic. (desirable).
• A Current Western Australian ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence. (Required).
• Forklift Ticket (Required).
• DOGMA ticket (desirable).
• Elevated Work Platform (EWP) (desirable).
• Polywelding & Electrofusion HDPE (desirable).
• 6F and 6G coded (stick and Tig) (desirable).
