The board regulates registered disability workers. The board works with the Victorian Disability Worker Commissioner (who regulates unregistered workers) and the Victorian Disability Worker Commission (which supports both the board and Commissioner) in implementing the Disability Worker Regulation Scheme.About the roleThe Board, the Commissioner and the Commission work together to regulate registered and unregistered disability workers in Victoria. As a member of the board, you will be responsible for setting the standards for registration of disability workers and accreditation of approved programs of study. Based on legislative criteria and guidelines around registration of disability workers, you will also assess applicants and probity matters, oversee the management of complaints and monitor compliance with registration standards by registered disability workers.About youBoard members will need to have a range of expertise and lived experience that align to one of the three category appointments: persons with disability, registered disability workers, and members who are not and have not been registered disability workers. Collectively, the board will need skills and experience including in-depth understanding of the sector, strategic decision-making and relationship building. This requires accountability and commitment to the values and behaviours expected in the Victorian public sector. Appointees will have board or committee experience that demonstrates they share their knowledge and work effectively with others.The Victorian Government is committed to ensuring that government boards and committees reflect the composition of the Victorian community.
