Our 99,600 employees operate a network of 2,600 offices and laboratories around the world.Job Description SGS is seeking a full time physicist to join the team in Notting Hill VIC.Permanent Full-TimeBased in Notting Hill VICSalary $88k - 92KResponsibilities include, but are not limited to: Performing tests on radiation survey meters using appropriate scientific methodologies and preparing scientific reports.Undertake radiation shield design calculations for radiation generating apparatus and radioactive source rooms.Provide radiation protection training, advice, and consultancy to SGS clients.Undertake quality approvals for lab reports from technical officers and provide scientific advice to lab manager where required.Perform radiation dose calculations using appropriate formalism to determine effect of radiation exposure to occupationally exposed workers and the public.Assist clients in developing radiation management plans and processes for limiting radiation exposure to workers and the public.Demonstrate a sound understanding of various radiation monitoring equipment and get actively involved in the sales division.Provide scientific and technical guidance in the selection and application of radiation monitoring solutions and radioactive isotopes to support SGS Radiation Services sales function.Undertake professional tasks of limited scope as well as complexity (e.g. compliance audits), or as major phases of broader larger assignments.Manage own project work including job creation and preparation, undertaking site work, data analysis, reporting, quoting, invoicing and liaising with the client on recommendations arising from the project.Undertake laboratory-based calibration on radiation monitoring equipment as per NATA and ISO17025 standards (where requested).Prepare audit reports based on environmental and laboratory surveys.Review calibration procedures for radiation monitoring equipment.Perform investigations, tests and measurements in labs and industrial sites to determine the presence of radioactive contaminants.At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in science (preferably Physics or another related discipline), or previous experience working in a science discipline/Health Physics experience/Medical Physics experience.Has reasonable understanding of the Victorian DHHS regulatory framework (preferable).Has a good basic knowledge of radiation safety principles, developing over time within the role.Able to communicate clearly with clients by email and phone.Additional Information Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Able to organise and manage own time, take ownership of issues, whilst prioritising action items to achieve deadlines and company goals.Great attention to detail when undertaking assigned duties.Be resourceful, show initiative and resolve challenges or problems.Enthusiasm, customer focus and team player commitment.Desire to further develop work-related skills and talents.Honesty, integrity, responsibility and ownership.Delivers Superior Results.WHY WORK FOR SGS?
