We are now looking for a full time Site Supervisor for our Maker Space Site based in Townsville – to join our Engineering Services business. This is a unique position, that rarely appears on the market and we encourage former ADF personal or those with strong Maker skills and looking for a unique employment opportunity.
Reporting to the Makerspace Project Manager, you will be the onsite supervisor and technical coordinator who will be working with both the Project Manager and local unit innovation representatives to deliver the Army Makerspace Program. The Site Supervisor will support the establishment and day to day operation of their assigned Makerspace.
As the Makerspace – Site Supervisor your responsibilities will include:
* Supervise the day to day running of the Makerspace including, maintaining consumable levels, machine readiness, housekeeping and health and safety management.
* Client induction management and technical training, inclusive of coordination and delivery.
* Safety system administration and implementation.
* Equipment and consumable management.
* Support and guidance to local innovation activities and events.
* Assist in the development of site specific SOPs.
* Facility and equipment usage data collection and reporting.
* Assist users in developing creative problem-solving and ideation skills through using your experience and technical knowledge to assist concept and prototype development.
* Consult with users to identify project support requirements.
* Work with user and Makerspace support network to develop a technical support plan.
* Assist in the setup and running of makerspace operational processes to deliver on unit innovation and experimentation goals.
* Troubleshoot equipment as well as project problems and report to the appropriate stakeholder or take action as necessary.
To be successful in the role of Makerspace - Site Supervisor you will require:
* Minimum 5 years technical trades experience in Electronics, IT, Electrical, Fitter machinist or Mechanical / or minimum 2 years engineering experience in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics or a similar discipline.
* Experience working on design and prototyping unique solutions or low rate production runs.
* Experience with any of the following; Laser CNC, 3D printing, PCB Printing (eg.Voltera), VR/AR dev, software programmable kits, smart applications and general prototyping.
* Ability to coach and mentor users to achieve project requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to manage the operation of fabrication machines and associated software.
* Ability to research and select off the shelf software solutions in order to make timely project recommendations regarding necessity, purchasing and deployment.
* Due to the nature of the role, applicants must also be eligible for Australian Defence security clearance.
