About the Role We are seeking an experienced Data Governance & Risk Manager to join our client, a global leader, in the financial services sector. This role is critical in ensuring robust data governance, mitigating risks, and driving compliance with regulatory and ethical standards. You will work across multiple domains, including operational risk, technology risk, and financial crime, to support the organisation’s data strategy and risk management framework. Key Responsibilities Data Governance: Drive the implementation and management of data governance frameworks, including data privacy, ethics, and regulatory compliance. Lead Critical Data Element (CDE) identification and oversee dataflow management across systems. Risk Management: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and establish controls for operational risk (OpRisk), technology risk, and financial crime (FinCrime). Oversee and enhance the organisation’s trade surveillance processes and frameworks. Technical Expertise: Utilise tools such as Collibra to streamline data governance processes. Apply SQL for data querying and analysis to support risk management initiatives. Project Assurance: Provide assurance for projects, focusing on risk mitigation and adherence to governance principles. Perform post-implementation reviews to ensure project objectives align with risk management standards. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with stakeholders to embed ethical data practices into business processes. Support the development and enhancement of controls for financial crime and operational risk management. Requirements Proven experience in data governance, risk management, and related roles within financial services. Expertise with Collibra, SQL, and other data governance or analytics tools. Strong understanding of operational risk, trade surveillance, financial crime, and technology risk management. Demonstrated ability to identify and manage Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and ensure robust dataflow processes. Experience conducting risk assessments, managing project assurance, and performing post-implementation reviews. Knowledge of data privacy regulations and ethical data governance practices.
