About the role
Supported by knowledgeable and experienced Directors, this role is focused on providing urban planning services in one or more of the following key areas:
1. Statutory planning and development advisory
2. Project Management
About you
You are a high-performing driven individual who can demonstrate statutory and strategic urban planning knowledge while providing attentive, professional service to our valued clients.
* A tertiary town planning qualification.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* 2 – 4 years experience with ambition to become a senior planner and grow to become a future leader.
* QLD experience essential – NSW experience is an added bonus.
* Ability to run projects independently, manage clients, invoice, and project manage work.
* Work collaboratively in a team environment.
* Confidence in decision making and ability to work independently.
* Ability to apply and articulate relevant statutory planning issues.
* Commitment to workplace flexibility, diversity, equality, and environmental sustainability.
Your key responsibilities
Consultancy Services
* Employ a thorough understanding of statutory, strategic, and land use planning principles to provide practical and expert planning advice to clients and the project team.
* Provide high-quality deliverables including the preparation of planning reports and advice correspondence.
* Represent Mecone at client workshops/meetings and provide advice on planning matters.
* GIS analysis, mapping, and graphic design (optional).
* Maintain direct and independent contact with government agency staff to progress planning applications.
Project and Team Management
* Ability to manage and progress projects with minimal oversight, including direct contact with client project managers.
* Awareness and tracking of project budgets.
* Management and prioritisation of competing deadlines, alerting Directors where capacity issues are foreseeable.
* Prepare monthly project invoices for review by Directors.
Marketing and Business Development
* Prepare fee proposals and tender responses.
* Awareness of planning trends and ability to identify further work opportunities from these for existing jobs and clients.
* Contribute to the development of innovative analytical tools or digital products (optional).
