Deliver specialised services in Forensic Pathology by participating in the receipt and documentation of post-mortem tissue, the correct storage and disposal or release of tissue and/or whole organs retained at autopsy according to legislative requirements and assisting in the neuropathology cutups.Maintain the laboratory environment and associated laboratory equipment to ensure a tidy, safe, and effective working environment and that stocks of consumable items and reagents are kept at working levels to prevent delays in the completion of requests.Key competencies (role specific criteria)You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:Demonstrated current knowledge and understanding of routine and specialised histological techniques and procedures, including equipment maintenance, as would be applied in a forensic histopathology laboratory.Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads, meet turnaround times as well as record data in accordance with administrative and legislative requirements, especially relating to the Queensland Coroners Act 2003.Demonstrated ability to apply established methods and procedures in completing routine Forensic Histology tasks independently, as well as the ability to complete increasingly complex tasks under the guidance of more experienced practitioners.Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills within a team environment as well as with a wide range of other stakeholders.A demonstrated commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and an understanding of the basis of laboratory quality control and quality assurance programs.Actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.Qualifications, registrations and other requirementsThe successful applicant must at least hold an Associate Diploma (generally graduating prior to the year 2000) or a Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) (Year 2000 onwards), tertiary, or equivalent formal qualification(s) in an eligible discipline and/or extensive operational experience.Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.We understand that some people may require adjustments to the workplace or the way the work is performed.
