Focused on the running and upkeep of integral telecommunications systems, you will ensure the continual operation of crucial commercial & freight logistics hubs across the region!Your new role Established many years ago to service the needs of Australians all throughout the country, whilst headquartered in Canberra, this organisation provides crucial support to some of the country's busiest (and most important) logistics hubs. Not only focused domestically, this organisation partners with international counterparts around the world to both enforce standards and to ensure the smooth running of international travel & freight. Due in part to their vital remit, this organisation is seeking to expand their Services Team by hiring a further two Telecommunications Engineers (one based in Cairns, one in Mackay). Working within a local multi-disciplinary technical team comprised of various engineering disciplines, your role as the teams Telecommunications Engineer will see you manage, upkeep, upgrade and deploy communications centric technologies across the region! Whilst focused on Very High Frequency (VHF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) equipment, you will be conducting multiple duties such as fibre optic deployments, telco configuration, fault finding, hardware implementation, electrical testing and equipment management (to name a few). This team is not only responsible for the corporate use of telecommunications infrastructure but also their use across the various facilities situated throughout Queensland. This gives you the chance to travel onsite to multiple locations as and when needed (circa 20% - 30%) to not only work in situ but to also see how your work impacts the running and operation of these hubs. Whilst this role will see you work across a multitude of different Telecommunications & Infrastructure technologies, this organisation is open to those from a variety of domain backgrounds, skill sets and seniority levels. Most crucially, Australian citizenship and a minimum of a Diploma (or higher) in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Networking etc is required to be considered for this position. What you'll need to succeed You will need experience/knowledge across as much of the following as possible: Very High Frequency (VHF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) equipment Installation and termination of fibre optic cabling, including breakdown experience ACMA Data Cabling License advantageous Endorsements for Structured Cabling and Fibre Optic Cabling Technical documentation Networking infrastructure topologies and technologies Diploma (or higher) in Telecommunications (or associated/equivalent) Service Management Experience in the mining/resources sector NOTE: Australian Citizenship is required due to the nature of the organisation Willing to undergo Australian Police Check and Security Vetting What you'll get in return You will be offered a permanent position with great career progression with a leading & crucial federal government owned organisation paying $90,000 - $100,000 base + 14% Super.
