About the role We are now hiring a Power Electronics Engineer in Murarrie, Brisbane, reporting to the Head of Sustaining Engineering. You will design, develop, and optimize high-voltage inverters and converters for EV charging, focusing on circuit design, simulation, testing, and manufacturing support. This role ensures solutions align with DFM, DFA, and DFS principles, collaborating across engineering, quality, and supply chain teams. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Power electronics expertise in high-power electronics design, including inverters, converters, IGBTs, MOSFETs, and power drive circuits. • Problem-solving and RCA, investigating and resolving power-related non-conformances (NCRs) using FMEA, 8D RCA, and circuit simulations. • Continuous improvement through Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize power conversion efficiency and thermal management. • Design and development of high-voltage, high-power systems (3kW – 500kW), ensuring EMC compliance and certification readiness. • Component selection and simulation, specifying power semiconductors, magnetics, and capacitors while using MATLAB, LTSpice, and Simplorer for analysis. • Testing and validation of high-power systems, conducting real-time validation and field trials. • Compliance and documentation, maintaining design requirements, regulatory standards (UL, CSA, IEC, CE), and ECM system updates. • Cross-functional collaboration with software, firmware, and senior engineers to enhance power system control and circuit reliability. • Operations support, implementing solutions via Change Management Control and actively contributing to technical discussions and decision-making. About you • Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering or Mechatronics, with minimum 3-5 years of experience. • Expertise in high-power electronics, inverter/converter design, and power circuit topologies. • Hands-on experience with IGBTs, MOSFETs, rectifiers, magnetics, and power conversion devices. • Proficiency in power electronics simulation (MATLAB/Simulink, LTSpice) and circuit design software (ALTIUM, SolidWorks). • Knowledge of EMC design requirements, testing standards, and compliance documentation. • Experience with DFM/DFA/DFS principles, high-volume manufacturing, and control system integration (BMS, CANbus). • Strong analytical problem-solving skills with attention to detail, working independently and across disciplines. • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to perform under pressure with excellent communication skills. Highly Desirable: • Strong project engineering experience with ownership of product development and proficiency in project planning tools (JIRA, MS Project). • Expertise in power electronics (rectifier circuits, IGBTs, MOSFETs), EMC testing, and firmware development for 32-bit ARM microcontrollers. • Knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks), PLM (Windchill), GD&T principles, and drafting standards (AS 1100) for integration within mechanical structures. • Experience in power systems documentation, site installations, and manufacturability using jigs, fixtures, and tooling for power electronics modules.
