About the role: The Senior Regional Planner is responsible for providing statutory services in relation to the assessment of planning scheme amendments and other requirements of planning legislation and instruments. The role is also responsible for the preparation and review of ministerial briefs, parliamentary business and responses to delegated and ministerial correspondence, and assisting in relationship management of key stakeholders including local government, other government agencies and development proponents. The Senior Regional Planner works collaboratively within the Planning and Land Services Group. The Senior Regional Planner takes on complex projects which warrant specialist expertise and provides advice and guidance to less experienced members of the team. Duties: Prepare and review authoritative reports, papers, presentations, briefs and correspondence on complex planning issues. Initiate, maintain and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, gain cooperation, and influence views on complex, contentious and sensitive matters within established parameters. Assist the Manager, BSW Regional Planning Services to effectively manage resources and workflow to maximise team and individual performance; mentor, coach and guide team members where appropriate; and facilitate a positive and collaborative culture in the team. Work flexibly and collaboratively across the State Planning division to deliver priorities and initiatives as required, and foster a pro-active case management approach. Skills & Experience Required: A relevant tertiary qualification in land use planning or related field. Demonstrated experience in, and knowledge of the Victorian planning system, and statutory and strategic land use planning within a metropolitan and regional planning context in Victoria. Demonstrated experience in assessing complex and/or strategically significant development proposals and/or planning scheme amendments is desirable but not essential. Full Drivers Licence & Full Working Rights in Australia are essential. Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain. On offer is full-time hours with the working hours and location flexible and negotiable. This fixed term contract will last until the end of December 2024.
