Position Overview :
As a Speech Therapist, you will provide speech pathology services to individuals with a range of communication and swallowing disorders. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating clients across various settings, including schools, homes, and clinical environments. You will work as part of a dynamic team, supporting clients in achieving their communication goals and improving their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities :
* Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments for clients of all ages.
* Develop and implement individualized therapy plans based on client needs.
* Provide direct therapy and interventions for speech and language disorders, including voice, fluency, articulation, and language development.
* Work with clients on swallowing and feeding issues.
* Educate and support families and caregivers on strategies to promote speech and language development at home.
* Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and psychologists, to provide holistic care.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records and documentation.
* Provide regular progress reports and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
* Support clients with disabilities or special needs to improve communication and social interaction.
* Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices in speech therapy.
Key Requirements :
* Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology (or equivalent qualification).
* Full registration with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).
* A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent (or ability to obtain).
* Proven experience in assessing and treating a wide range of speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
* Compassionate, patient, and client-focused approach to care.
* Excellent time management and organizational skills.
* Experience in pediatric and/or adult therapy is an advantage.
* Experience with telehealth service delivery (optional).
* A current driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (for home visits if required).
Preferred Qualifications :
* Postgraduate qualifications in a specialized area (e.g., pediatric speech therapy, dysphagia, etc.) are highly regarded.
* Experience working in a rural or remote area.
* Ability to work with Indigenous populations is desirable.
