About the team
Bridging the gap between our suppliers, distribution centres and stores, our Supply Chain team works with thousands of trusted businesses every day. We work hard to make life easier, safer and more sustainable across our network.
You’ll be a key part of our Quality Management team who maintain the supply of great quality food from our suppliers to our stores.
About the role
You’ll lead a team of Quality Inspectors (within New South Wales) who check fresh produce, meat, dairy and seafood as it comes into the Eastern Creek distribution centre (DC). You’ll effectively collaborate with other Quality Managers around the country to develop and compare continuous improvement initiatives that can be rolled out or amended for purpose.
Other ways you’ll make an impact:
• Coach, lead and develop a medium sized diverse team
• Summarise and prioritise key supplier performance issues to the category teams to drive supplier performance improvements
• Partner with the Distribution Centre teams to ensure a safe and productive workplace for the team
• Review and highlight opportunities for improvement - based on data from arrival and shelf-life assessments (trend analysis), as well as store feedback and audit results
• Collaboratively partner with varied internal and external stakeholders
About you and your skills
This role will leverage your proven people leadership and management experience. Being part of a dedicated DC team couple with a continuous improvement mindset will enable success in this role.
You will also ideally have:
• Hold a Science tertiary education qualification (preferred, but not mandatory)
• Strong team management and leadership experience to drive engagement and build on talent
• Proven relevant industry experience in technical and quality roles, as well as comfort working in a chilled environment
• Technical skills and know-how, coupled with knowledge of the Food Standards Code
• Knowledge of and exposure to working with multiple products across produce and fresh foods
• Cross functional influencing – work with product technologists, product developers and category managers
• Exceptional communications skills, both verbal and written
• Effective resource management
