Working to protect the state's environment and heritage About the role National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has a unique opportunity for a Team Leader Conservation to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage. The Team Leader Conservation will lead a team of committed pest and weed management, threatened species and data specialists to prioritise, plan and report on conservation programs and priorities across the branch. The team works closely with area staff, contractors and external stakeholders to identify the natural and cultural values of the reserve and deliver targeted threat mitigation, monitoring, and conservation programs. The position provides input into departmental policy and strategy development and broader conservation initiatives such as Assets of Intergenerational Significance. About you Your strong communication and leadership skills are essential for the success of this role. The position manages a geographically dispersed team and must be able to travel within the branch. The ideal candidate will need to be able to drive a positive culture throughout the team. You'll have a level of autonomy to manage the planning, development, implementation, and delivery of approved works, projects, and maintenance programs. Project management is critical to this role as you will be responsible for the coordination of projects, managing budgets and coordinating the associated contractors in-line with relevant departmental guidelines and procedures and quality expectations. You will review and contribute to the development of strategic planning documents such as pest management strategies, biodiversity and wildlife strategies, operational plans, plans of management, business and service delivery plans to ensure actions and objectives deliver on key NPWS priorities. Essential requirements Appropriate degree qualification and/or equivalent experience relevant to the role. Experience in wildlife and project management. Demonstrated extensive experience in the interpretation of legislation, and experience in dealing with environmental planning and assessment issues. Experience in the preparation, assessment and analysis of strategic and complex conservation proposals. A current Australian Drivers Licence.
