Our client is looking for an experienced Estimator who will be responsible for the performance and quality of all pre-contract technical submittals within the Roofing & Cladding business unit in consultation with the Estimating Manager. It is expected that the successful candidate will have extensive estimating experience within the construction industry in Australia. Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork collaboratively with the team in providing "best for business" solutions. Understanding the Tender Documents and identifying the required milestones for each project. Developing the Baseline Programme of Works based on the Client's requirements, including resource histogram, S Curve, and Cash Flow. Preparing management plans and method statements as required. Coordinating with the operation team to develop a baseline construction programme in line with the submitted tender programme post award. Ensure compliance with company standards and commercial requirements. Ensure legislative and regulatory compliance. Assist in improving tender processes and procedures. Provide Project cost Studies including scope packaging, quantity take off, subcontractor communication and final pricing. Identify and record the risks and opportunities of each tender. Identify and record the long lead items for each tender. Preparing All Indirect Cost based including the preliminaries. Evaluate suppliers & subcontractors' quotations, ensuring that all quantities and specifications are in line with the project requirements. Set up database costing, in reference to the previous Tender submittal and quotations. Seek opportunities that enhance the project value proposition. Skills and ExperienceMinimum 5 years' experience in major building construction projects, specifically within Construction. Formal or informal education in Project Management or Estimating (QS). Hold a current White Card. Hold a current driver's license. Experience estimating evaluating small & large projects. Knowledge of WHSEQ. Strong experience in contract administration. Strong experience in programming and scheduling. Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to exercise mature judgement, as demonstrated throughout previous work experience. Demonstrate diplomatic, management, and communication skills to consult with key stakeholders including other implementing agencies. Proficient in project management suite of software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera), Cost estimating software (e.g., Cost X, Candy CCS, Benchmark, Bluebeam) and estimating platforms (e.g., Bidcontender, Aconex, Procore, Estimate one). Ability to write technical proposals and documents and deliver presentations. Team player, flexible and adaptable to changing needs and demands costs, schedules, and timeframes. Ability to develop a Bill of quantity for Roofing & Cladding, and relevant trades. Understanding of specifications and drawings for accuracy and constructability. Knowledge of health and Safety legislation. Strong financial acumen and written communication skills.
