We now have an exciting opportunity available for an I&E Engineer to join our Engineering and Planning team in Melbourne (VIC), Brisbane (QLD), Sydney (NSW) or Perth (WA) on a full-time permanent basis.
Reporting to the Team Lead Facilities Engineering Instrumentation and Electrical, you will play a key role in providing maintenance assistance and supporting reliability initiatives to drive operational excellence across APA facilities in transmission and midstream assets.
This position will be assigned a region of responsibility to support by leveraging knowledge within the Facilities Engineering team and broader organisation. This includes generating improvement opportunities for new projects and providing operations engineering input to existing projects in this region.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive enhancements in operational and maintenance support for APA's above-ground assets with a focus on Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation Engineering. Your contributions will help ensure the smooth functioning and reliability of essential infrastructure.
* Collaborate with the team to support technical work in areas such as control systems hardware, software, and logic; instrumentation; electrical systems; remote support; hazardous areas; control valves; pressure regulation; HAZOP/CHAZOP; SIL; and communications. You’ll work with equipment including pressure vessels, metering, gas filtration and separation, centrifugal (turbine) and reciprocating compression, power generation, utility gas/air systems, heaters, PLC/RTUs, LV electrical distribution and protection, and other equipment essential to APA’s gas transmission pipeline systems.
* Regular site travel and availability for on-call duty, offering a unique opportunity to directly support field teams and APA operations.
* Work collaboratively with other Engineering disciplines and APA departments, sharing insights and expertise to promote a holistic approach to projects and problem-solving.
* Contribute to Asset Management principles by bringing forward insights on reliability and maintenance strategies, enhancing the safety, resilience, and longevity of APA's infrastructure.
About You
* Tertiary qualification in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (or a similar field) and are eligible for corporate membership with Engineers Australia, or you have equivalent experience.
* Understanding of Australian and international electrical codes and standards.
* Experience in hydrocarbon operations and gas transmission within electrical, control, and instrumentation engineering (Preferred)
* Strong communicator who can effectively relate to and collaborate with staff and management at all levels, bringing people together to achieve shared goals.
* Self-motivated and detail-oriented, you have a passion for investigation and fault analysis, using your technical insight to solve problems.
* Experience in a supportive, proactive site environment and maintenance-focused culture, particularly in owner-operated settings, contributing to high-performance outcomes.
* Background in asset management within owner-operator businesses, particularly in criticality analysis, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI), is an advantage.
