Applied Robotics is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing automation and control systems for various projects. You will work across multi-platform PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, integrated motion, and robotic programming, ensuring that all systems meet Australian safety standards and AS4024 requirements and perform to customer expectations and internal SOW.Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement automation and control systems.
Work with multi-platform PLCs, primarily Rockwell, and HMIs.
Integrate vision systems and motion control into automation projects.
Develop electrical schematics and select appropriate components.
Stay up to date with the latest industry communication protocols and technologies.
Manage projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
Mentor and teach junior engineers, fostering their growth and development.
Ensure all designs comply with Australian safety standards and AS4024 requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Requirements:
5-10 years of industry experience in automation and control systems.
Proficiency in multi-platform PLCs (Rockwell, Siemens, Omron etc)
Experience with HMI development and vision systems integration. (Cognex, Omron, SICK)
Knowledge of integrated motion control and robotic programming (KUKA, ABB, FANUC, OMRON).
Strong understanding of electrical schematic development and component selection.
Up-to-date knowledge of industry communication protocols.
Project management experience is desirable
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects from start to finish independently.
Experience in teaching and mentoring junior engineers.
Expertise in designing systems that meet Australian safety standards and AS4024 requirements.
Excellent problem-solving skills, root cause analysis and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
