Vacancy for Technical Assistant Digital Preservation
At the Art Gallery of New South Wales, we are seeking a skilled and collaborative individual to join our Conservation team as a Technical Assistant in Digital Preservation.
About the Role
The successful candidate will provide technical support and expertise to the Digital Preservation Program, working closely with the Digital Preservation Manager to develop and implement a digital preservation system.
* Collaborate with the Conservation team to establish procedures and workflows for preserving works in the collection, the National Art Archive, and content created by the Gallery.
* Contribute to the development of a comprehensive digital preservation strategy, ensuring alignment with international standards and best practices.
* Maintain and update the digital preservation system, ensuring its continued relevance and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Providing technical assistance to staff across the Gallery, including conservation, collections management, and education teams.
* Developing and implementing training programs to ensure staff are equipped to manage and preserve digital assets.
* Collaborating with stakeholders to identify and prioritize digital preservation projects.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A strong understanding of digital preservation principles and practices.
* Excellent technical skills, with experience in digital asset management systems.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
