Camp settingRoles and Responsibilities:Ensure that all work in your area is done safely – procedures followed so that productivities are achieved without incident.Ensure the safe and efficient completion of all tasks as assigned by Supervisor.Plan tasks for the shift in conjunction with the Superintendent, and when necessary licensing or training and maintenance personnel.Allocate machinery, work areas and tasks to shift employees.Direction and supervision of workers employed in your project area.Closely supervise new or inexperienced employees.Oversee the daily line up and safety meeting with the crew and upgrading of procedures that will optimize company safety and quality of work.Visit all assigned working areas and ensure they are up to standard, employees are following procedures.Apply disciplinary and counseling procedures in conjunction with the Superintendent when employees fail to discharge their health, quality, safety, environmental or performance responsibilities.Actively participate and comply with the site leadership program, record and report the results of the inspections and implement corrective actions as required to minimize risks/hazards.Attend pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, safety meetings.Required Skills and Qualifications:Be safety-focused and have a positive can-do attitude.Must have extensive experience in a high-speed single heading development environment.Be highly driven to achieve project targets, safely and efficiently.10 years experience in underground tunnel development and training of workforces within an underground environment.Proven history of successfully supervising and safely guiding multiple crews through hazardous work projects.Ability to analyze and evaluate multifaceted situations to determine the safe and productive methods for completion of the work.Ability to promote an attitude of teamwork and cooperation between the various components of the tunneling workforce.In-depth and broad knowledge of trackless Jumbo tunneling methods, construction and special projects.Strong leadership skills earning the respect of management and subordinates.
