Internal Locum – Geriatric Medicine We are seeking enthusiastic and capable Geriatricians to join our team in providing excellent care for older adults across the Eastern Health network Internal locum appointment to assist in providing planned leave cover and/or non-planned leave cover as a Geriatrician within Complex and Continuing Care and Care at Home services Work across Eastern Health sites Eastern Health Eastern Health is one of Melbourne's largest public health services.
We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services, including maternity, palliative care, mental health, drug and alcohol, residential care, community health and state-wide specialist services to people and communities that are diverse in culture, age, socio-economic status, population and healthcare needs.
About the role Geriatricians at Eastern Health play a critical role in the delivery of essential healthcare across many interfaces including in the Emergency Department, Acute wards, Sub-acute wards, outpatient and ambulatory clinics, community-based services and care at home programs.
We support care of patients at many sites including Peter James Centre, Wantirna Health, Angliss, Maroondah, Box Hill, Healesville and Yarra Ranges Health, as well as in many community and ambulatory settings through Transition Care Program, Residential InReach, GEM at home and many outpatient programs.
We are seeking to add a number of consultant geriatricians to join us at Eastern Health in providing Internal Locum support.
There is currently an opportunity to join our team as an Internal Locum for providing cover for both planned leave, as well as opportunity to provide support for covering of unplanned leave.
There is also the opportunity to participate within weekend and out-of-hours on-call rostering as part of these roles, with participation in these options able to be negotiated and facilitated if of interest to the successful applicant(s).
Geriatric Medicine at Eastern Health is at an exciting point in it's development; we have observed growth in a number of recent successful initiatives such as Acute Care of the Older Person (ACOP), the Geriatrician in the ED Initiative (GEDI) and GEM at home services in recent years.
We are optimistic about potential opportunities that may arise for Eastern Health to enhance and develop additional bespoke and dynamic geriatrician-led services in the near future.
You will be joining a group of friendly and committed Geriatricians, supporting the growth and development of services across acute, sub-acute, ambulatory and community settings.
Geriatricians at Eastern Health additionally support the training of a number of Advanced Trainees in Geriatric Medicine, as well as many Basic Physician, GP/General and Intern trainees.
There is a strong ethos towards supporting teaching and learning for trainees and with peers, as well as a commitment to promoting and participating in quality improvement activities across the organisation.
