F-Bomb Theatre is seeking a female-identifying, Edinburgh-based director for our upcoming outdoor theatre show in May 2025, Monumental.
As part of the Edinburgh 900 celebrations, Monumental will take the form of a walking tour of central Edinburgh. Reflecting the lack of representation of women in Edinburgh's public monuments, actors along the tour will play "living statues" which come to life to tell the stories of five women who contributed to Edinburgh's herstory.
Role :
Directing six actors as part of the production. This will include five actors who are delivering the monologues, and some light-touch direction of one actor-facilitator who will be guiding the tour. Reviewing actor applications / auditions and making decisions on casting. Scheduling actor call times and rehearsal schedules. Rehearsals will be held in Edinburgh, May 2025, with each actor required for two days in total. Being present on May 10 2025 to watch the first two performances and give feedback / adjustments where necessary. Contributing to conversations about creative decisions regarding costume and setting. Leading a safe, respectful rehearsal process in accordance with best-practices and F-Bomb's policy. Criteria
Applicants should be female-identifying and based in Edinburgh. At least five years experience as a theatre director. This could be within Fringe environments and assisting on professional productions. Experience with site-specific and / or outdoor theatre is desirable. Experience working with visually impaired actors is desirable. Must be available between 4 May and 10 May 2025. Details
The successful applicant will be paid £2166.00, which includes a preparatory fee and six days rehearsal. Half will be paid upon signing contract and half upon completion of the project.
