Position Responsibilities
SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT
Be proactive in identifying hazards, developing safety procedures, and encouraging continuous improvement in relation to HSE. Assist in identifying hazards, advising on safety procedures, and monitoring work practices to ensure adherence to correct procedures and standards for safety and environmental performance. Support the Kolsen Group corporate quality, safety, health, and environmental management systems by:
* Reporting to your Manager or QHSE Manager any situation that could result in harm to a person, the environment or may adversely affect the services we provide our customers.
* Reporting to your Manager or QHSE Manager any opportunities that you believe would improve the quality of service we provide our customers or could reduce the potential for harm to people or the environment.
* Understanding and supporting the annual QHSE objectives.
To immediately pause or make safe any work condition or activity that could result in immediate harm and immediately notify either by phone or in person the responsible line manager and the QHSE adviser or Director.
Leading and promoting the implementation of the integrated management systems for Quality, Safety, Health and the Environment.
Customer relationships
Communicate with internal and external customers on a day-to-day basis, to plan work, keep them informed of progress, resolve any issues of concern, and identify variations or additional work.
Operational performance
* Repairs and preventative maintenance to maintain the Sterling NT fleet, including but not limited to: changing oils, air filters, spark plugs, checking and replacing fluids, checking tyres, brakes, clutches, vehicle and machine operation, electrical repairs and diagnosis.
* Identifying potential issues that could cause greater problems and/or safety concerns.
* Communicating with operators to identify common issues that may reduce the efficiency and reliability of the fleet.
* Carrying out mechanical diagnosis.
* Record keeping and reporting.
* Assisting in parts ordering and inventory.
* Working independently.
* Management of own workload.
People and teams
Maintain a high level of communication and cooperative working relationships with all parties including ground floor workers through to corporate services.
Other
Undertake other tasks to support the project or business operations as required. Adhere to the Direction, Competence, Opportunity, and Motivation (D-COM) principles.
Skills and Experiences:

ESSENTIALS:
* Certificate 3 in automotive mechanical or equivalent.
* Good mechanical problem diagnostic skills.
* Methodical thinking and an enquiring mind to consider and assess issues and possibilities.
* Proven ability to plan, conduct and review all maintenance activities.
* Decision-making ability, dexterity and sufficient stamina and physical flexibility to perform tasks.
* Sound knowledge of the machinery requirements in the company fleet.
* Class C drivers’ licence.
* Ability to work unsupervised.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Construction Induction card.
* A positive National Police Security Check Report.
